What Is Eyebrow Transplant?

Eyebrow transplantation is a precise microsurgical procedure designed to restore eyebrows that have thinned, fallen out, or lost their natural shape due to aging, trauma, medical conditions, or over-plucking. During the procedure, individual hair follicles are carefully harvested from the nape (back of the scalp) and transplanted into the eyebrow area. Each follicle is placed at the exact angle and direction to mimic natural eyebrow growth.

The main goal is to create full, natural-looking eyebrows that complement your facial features. Once healed, the transplanted hairs grow permanently, providing a low-maintenance, aesthetic result that doesn’t rely on makeup.

Why is Eyebrow Transplant Preferred?

Eyebrows are one of the most defining elements of facial expression.

Eyebrow transplantation provides a permanent and effective solution in the following situations:

  • Years of incorrect eyebrow shaping
  • Sudden hair loss
  • Hormonal changes
  • Stress or nutritional deficiencies
  • Gaps caused by injury, burns or trauma
  • Deformations caused by permanent makeup or microblading
  • Genetically sparse eyebrows

With the advancement of techniques, eyebrow transplantation has become one of the most preferred procedures in recent years due to its natural and aesthetic results.

How Is Eyebrow Transplantation Performed?

The eyebrow transplant procedure follows principles similar to hair transplantation; however, it requires a much higher level of aesthetic precision.

Eyebrow Design

Eyebrow Design

A natural eyebrow shape is created by taking facial proportions, muscle structure, and the individual’s preferences into account. This stage is the most critical part of the procedure.

Graft Harvesting

Graft Harvesting

Single hair follicles are extracted from the nape area using a specialized micromotor. Using only single follicles is essential for achieving natural-looking results in eyebrow transplantation.

Implantation with the DHI Method

Implantation with the DHI Method

The DHI method is preferred in eyebrow transplantation. With this technique, channel opening and graft implantation are performed simultaneously thanks to special pens.

Procedure Duration

Eyebrow transplantation takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. As it is performed under local anesthesia, the procedure is highly comfortable.

How Does the Post-Eyebrow Transplant Process Progress?

How Does the Post-Eyebrow Transplant Process Progress?

  • Mild redness and sensitivity are normal on the first day after the procedure.
  • Within two weeks, slight scabbing may occur in the area and will fall off naturally.
  • During the same period, the transplanted hairs may temporarily shed; this process is called shock loss.
  • From the third month onward, new eyebrow hairs begin to grow.
  • It takes approximately 9 to 12 months for the eyebrows to fully settle and achieve a natural appearance.

Since fewer grafts are used in eyebrow transplantation compared to hair transplantation, the healing process is much faster and more comfortable.

Which Method Should Be Used For Eyebrow Transplantation?

The most suitable technique for eyebrow transplantation is the DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) method. The reasons for this are:

  • More controlled direction of eyebrow hairs
  • Channel opening and implantation are performed simultaneously
  • More successful creation of natural angles
  • Shorter recovery time compared to other techniques
  • Minimal trauma to the facial area

The FUE method is not frequently preferred for the eyebrow area, as it results in a longer recovery period.
